Costs $5 to enter the competition.

1 boy and 1 girl winner will split the money.

The winner will be based 100% on your before and after picture judged by an outside party.

As part of the competition, you will need to have a goal that you are working for- lose weight, lose size in your waist, gain muscle.

You need to submit a weekly update on your progress. i.e. I lost 3 lbs this week!

AHEM: Sarah wishes the pictoral evidence shown below were a part of her every day life.

Even as I sit here typing this, she's just laughing. No denial whatsoever. Guys...I think you can be proud.

And a little embarrassed. Oiled?! DERRICK.

A special shout-out to Cary, though: actually, there are no words. Some things...well, nevermind.

Fantastic. Thank you, thank you very much. Our lives will never be the same. Truly.

Sincerely,

DeeAura (who speaks for the rest of the female population in this room...consisting of a number that shall remain unspecified.)

Fitness Seminar Summer 11

As part of my re-certification for personal training I have to ear CEUs (continuing education units) Mostly they want you to do things like attend their seminars and take their online classes, all of these cost money. I decided to do all of the free stuff that I could this time, since next time I probably won't be able to (as I will have to earn more units)  One of the choices to earn CEUs was to host, or be invited to host, a fitness seminar. I was not invited to any, so i decided to put one of my own on. I did everything last minute... so organized...
Emily was gracious enough to let Todd and I spend the weekend at their house and to invite all of her friends to come. We created a Facebook event and told everybody we could think of.
Finally the morning of the seminar arrived and my computer deleted my awesome power point presentation, minutes before the seminar was to begin.  Thankfully I had printed handouts for everybody and had an great workout orginized.
As you look at the pictures I asked Meridith to walk around taking, you might notice that it's basically just my family there.... wah wah wah... short notice. I have had several requests since for a second round, and plan on giving people at least a months notice, you know, so they can show up :)
I did manage to earn all the CEUs required for my re-certification and just got notification that I am certified until December 2014!

DeeAura's Before & After

Merrilee's Before & After

Alaina's Before & After

Cody's Before & After

Cary's After

(I don't have his before pics)

Derrick's Before & After

Steven's Before & After

Jason's Before & After

Adam's Before & After

The End.

I ran 7 miles last Friday. In the sunshine. :) It was so fantastic! I'm getting better and better at Jillian's stupid level 3 these days. The first time I did it, I think I yelled at her more than I did anything else. But thanks to my sweet A, I kept going, and I only yelled a few times yesterday.

The only problem with getting better at level 3 is that I'm going to have to move on to Insanity and that means I'll have to learn to control the things I'm yelling at the TV. Oops. :)

Weight-wise in this challenge, I've really stayed about the same. My goal wasn't to lose a lot of weight, though, as I sort of already did that before we started this challenge. We should've had this challenge starting last fall. BUT: my personal goals were to maintain what I'd already achieved and to tone a little more in certain areas, and I'd say for the most part, I've done just that.

So there you have it. 90 days and now somebody will get all that cash sitting on my kitchen counter. :)

Final Update

I lost 8 pounds in four months now weighing in at 192. I was able to add about two inches to my chest and about one to my arms. My strategy consisted of a good diet and lots of cardio.

Moot Court Competition

These last couple of weeks have been crazy. I have been organizing a moot court competition. Moot Court is the second most prestigious organization at the school. We practice appellate advocacy - basically arguing before a panel of judges. I was in charge of try-outs. Over the last week and a half I have been responsible for finding judges, rooms, and time for about 200 different arguments. I have had to deal with students and faculty upset when the cuts didn't go the way they thought they should. Today all my hard work comes to end. In a half hour, my last 6 competitors will argue against each other in front of the whole school. I have an actual justice from the Utah Supreme Court, 2 professors who clerked on the United States Supreme Court, and the assistant Attorney General coming to judge the event.

Why do I tell you all this? Because although working out has been tough, I'm sure I have lost weight from all the stress. More importantly, come tomorrow I can start working out regularly again.

One week left.

-Adam

Ps. I broke my diet today and had some luke-warm Dr. Pepper. So worth it.

Fajitas.. yum.

Last one. I am excited to see pictures next week.

I only ate like 7 chips while at my parents house.... until we went to El Torrito and then I ate almost 3 baskets of chips. Also, if you go I got the chicken fajita salad and it was awesome. Seriously better than my hubby's crab enchiladas.

Anyways, I was so scared that I was going to gain 5 pounds while I was there, that I lost 2! WOOOOOO!

See you next week. :)

California

Went on a road trip to California. On there way there we stopped at Jean Phillipe and ate gourmet chocolate cake and Gelato ice cream. When we got to California we ate chocolate-covered strawberries at Alisha's house. Also went to Disneyland where I chowed down on ice cream, cotton candy, bacon-wrapped asparagus, chocolate-covered pretzels, etc. I sat in a car travel for over 30 hours in the past week. So as you can see I am winning this competition. :)

Well, I'm here

To the house of chips and ice cream. I've only had 3 chips, and it's raining.

This is my update.

Diet

Generally I don't believe in diets. I think they don't work, I think they are unhealthy, I think they are for 14 year old girls. I am certain that the Atkins diet will cause half our generation to die horrible horrible deaths at the age of 65.

All that being said, my diet is atrocious. Just plain awful. So here is a list of staples in my diet that I am cutting out:

Taco Bell
Gandolfos
Little Ceazars Pizza
BYU Chocolate Milk
BYU breakfast sandwiches
Soda

Just 2 weeks left.

Two weeks left!!!

I'm glad everyone is still so fired up about this competition. For those who are still committed to their goals and to their performance enhancing drugs I think we can all see a recognizable difference and say with confidence that we are much better people than the rest of our friends. One big lesson that I've learned is that diet is just as important as the number of days working out. You can't have a high cheese diet and expect to lose stomach fat. Also, mayonnaise is bad. Planks and running are much better for defining abs than doing crunches, and eating whole grains instead of white flour leads to greater regularity which is always a positive thing to have. For those who are still participating, let's make these last two weeks count so we can be in tip top shape for our 3 month pictures. Thank you

Look, another post. :)

I ran 6 miles today. That is all.

House of Chips

Last week was awesome workout wise. Not so great food wise (mostly the weekend). But the cinnamon rolls were awesome.

I have to be super great this week because we are leaving for California on Friday morning. That means 2 days of food in the car. And then, 6 days at my parents, which is made of chips and ice cream.

Hey, we're almost done! :)

Though I have not been a faithful blogger

I know I have not really posted but I weighed myself this morning and have lost about 10 pounds since we started this. I'm not really sure what I did or how I did it because I have not really been trying but it happened.

Who's judging the competition?

What are you guys' thoughts about who should judge the competition and how?

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

I thought about sharing this on facbeook....

With only a few weeks left in this funny thing where so many people forgot that they signed up for weekly blog posts (not facebook posts...), I thought I would share with you guys something to never ever do. Unless I am there to watch. Because, I like to laugh this hard all the time.  But now that you guys no longer need to be scared of failing at this, you can start to work out again, and tell us about it

:)

Didn't see that one coming...

For my update... I accidentally had a rough couple of weeks which resulted in... a lot of thinking about working out vs actually working out. BUT... last night I started the week of right with a nice 2 mile run in the snow.

Brr!

So, I'll just keep doing that. Minus the snow.

Also, I'm still laughing at the man in the video.

And, can someone please tell me who the H Tony is?  All I know is that he is "The Man" and he's mean and funny.

Chelsie is a slacker

Yes, I have failed this competition. I haven't worked out much for the past month and I am pretty sure this past weekend I stuffed myself with Camille's wonderful chocolate cheesecake bars. I am not embarrassed. Chocolate heals the heart and soul.

Does the Wii "Just Dance" game or Western Swing count for exercises? How about running around my office at work getting meetings set up? Either way I am pretty sure I am not winning this battle.

Back to working out

All of my blood tests came back negative... this means no autoimmune or thyroid disorders whew! Such a relief, so I am back to 100% almost.
I have had a kind of bad food week... oops, so this week to repent I am doing carb (grain) free. It's hard but it's worth it.
Funny story.
Yesterday at the gym I doing my intervals (to max my calories burned) on the treadmill I had just finished a minute and a half sprint when I felt the jello legs coming on. I started to reduce the speed, but it was NOT going  fast enough! I grabbed the handles and started to jump to the sides to straddle the belt. My left foot landed successfully on the side while I found my right foot being pulled behind me at 8 MPH (I know in your car this is slow, but on a treadmill it's kind of scary!) I spent the next several seconds or so trying to get control over my right leg and minimize the damage done to my body. Finally I found myself clinging to the left hand rail my arms wrapped totally around it and both feet on the ground.
The girl two treadmills over looked at me and asked if I was ok. Funnily enough she was the only one in the entire gym who had seen or heard me nearly dying!
So the lesson is that you should probably wear those little safety things they have on treadmills.
The end

Adam's getting a little bossy.

Dear everyone who feels angry with my lack of postings on this blog, (Adam)

Ahem. I totally work out. Almost every day. Just so you know. And while I may have had to withdraw from the 10K I was SO looking forward to running this Saturday morning (I actually was looking forward to it. No sarcasm.) beause I'm the world's most dedicated employee and must go train my ex-boyfriend all weekend on how to do his job this summer, I'm still working out.  And running.

Moral of the story: never date a co-worker. It's just awkward to tell him where to go and mean it afterward without being...hahha...oh wait. This isn't my journal or my personal blog. This is half the reason I run. Just take my word for it.

Adam made me post. So if you feel uncomfortable with all this information, go ahead and take it up with him. :)

I'll run my own personal 10K sometime next week to make up for it. (The fact I didn't run and the fact I didn't just erase most of that post. I don't like my efforts wasted.)

The end.

"I hate it, but I love it"

P 90x today:

263 Push-ups
71 pull-ups
110 reps of lawnmowers, flys, etc.

In honor of today's work out I will share some classic Tony quotes.

"I hate it, but i love it"
"Like a ptreodactly backing out of trouble"
"If anyone does 26, I'm coming to your house"
"Get Sexy with it"
"Posing for the cover of downward dog magazine"
"Tip of the day - don't smash your face"
"Is that a bandaid??...Dude, Dude, Dude."
"What's up knee caps?"
"This isn't part 1 or part 2 people, its part 2"
"I like to do fancy hands"
"The only reason I work out is for the recovery drink"
"Wow! and what's wow backwards? Mom"
"Lets work the other leg because we have two of them" (the guy next to him has a prosthetic
leg)
"You make Gumbi look like the Tin Man"
"I think I just blew out my esophagus"
"Nice shoes...but not as good as mine."
"Ya you could cool down here...Or you could get your FREAKING KNEES UP!"

Only a few weeks left - it's go time. "Do your best and forget the rest"

LSD and bicep curls

Well... here are the up dates. I have been sick, and like I said lost some unhealthy weight, don't worry my strength is coming back, maybe even better than before! I dead lifted 120lbs! I am amazing :)
Anyway, back to the title two semi-worthless exercises LSD and bicep curls.
Long Slow Distance...now all of you marathoners don't freak out. Just stop and think about it for a while, now lets say you run just under a 10 minute mile, not too bad, this means if you run 6 miles you are working out at a SLOW pace for just under an hour! Research shows, you burn about half the amount of calories that you would have burned had you done interval training in about half the amount of time! So the next time you decide to go for a run set you iPod to some up tempo music and start sprinting! Another bonus of interval training is that your metabolism is boosted for two days after... meaning you will continue to burn an elevated amount of calories for TWO days after you work out. SO worth it.
Now to the bicep curls, the only reason you should be standing around doing bicep curls is if your ONLY goal is to have huge biceps. Not only is it a very small muscle, and bicep curls have basically no functionality when applied to real life, but you burn hardly any calories! Try to do exercises that work multiple muscles, pull ups, push ups, or even just do some split squats while doing bicep curls. So easy, basically try to cut out any and every exercise that only works small muscles and replace them with exercises that work muscle groups. Your workout will be twice as effective, and you will see results MUCH faster (promise)

Last month of the competition!!!!

I have gotten a lot busier with school and have dropped from 4 or 5 times a week at the gym to 3 times a week during the last month. I don't think I've seen any more results during the last month but I have maintained what I had gained through daily doses of green smoothies, doing planks, and trying to work in some cardio. I really need to step it up during this last month. Everyone needs to recommit themselves so that we can be motivated to take our 3 month picture. What do you say everyone? Can we do it? I declare that we can... and we must. Thank you.

Struggling

Last week was horrific from a physical fitness standpoint. I know better than to make excuses but it really was a series of unfortunate events which included having the week off of school, hurting my knee, and catching a cold. I am thinking about following Jason's lead and buying some Human Growth Hormone to overcome my physical frailties.

Would you take spinning with Dwight?

hello again

It seems as though a lot of us aren't posting on here anymore, or taking the time to read the rest of our  Sweet A(ss)'s on here anymore.  I feel sad about this.  I can count the number of us who are even still in this competition on one finger.  Yeah, ONE finger.  OK maybe one hand.  But I guess it's good that at least a few of us are still going, eh?

I didn't swear earlier.  The parenthesis made it a non swear word p.s.

I think that we need to have our Saturday morning Jillian Michaels party soon.  Maybe.. this week or next.  Because the guys need to see how tough we are, and us girls need to see them suffer for 20 minutes.  It's a win-win situation.  Bethany, you should book a flight asap.  Ok, I'm kidding.  About the flight.

Just think... this could be ALL of us together on a beautiful Saturday morning!  Such a bonding experience that would be.

By the way... total I have lost ___ lbs.  It's going to be kept my secret since hardly anyone else shares juicy details about their sweet A's on here anymore.  But... my pants are still falling off.  Faster.  In an appropriate way of course.

Sick as a dawg

So last week I thought I was going to die... I finally went to the Dr (after months of being sick) and was told I had a sinus infection. The one good thing about being sick is that well I lost a few pounds, I look great right now, aside from still hacking up a lung every ten minutes.
Anyway I owe you all a real post... coming soonish, I think

Insanity is the best workout ever

So I was really tired and skipped the last 3 days of Insanity.

But I'm back to it, and dedicated! My abs are looking too good to let them slip away again.

Pictures soon.

Today is Tuesday

I try to update on Sunday or Monday, and today feels like Monday, but it's Tuesday. Yay!

Anyways, I was successful in breaking through my plateau this week, putting me below the blue line again. (hooray!) Even though someone lovely and thoughtful dropped 6 cupcakes off at our house Valentine's day evening.

I drank my water for the day everyday. Except Friday. I forgot to take my water bottle to preschool with me, and they only have mini preschool-sized cups. I have no idea how much water I drank Friday, but not 80 oz. Overall, it was easier than I thought it was going to be.

That's all.

Sunday, February 20, 2011

yeah...

So I never post on here because blogger is blocked at my awesome job... sorry. But no, I still haven't exercised. Whoops...

The push-up chump

Today marks the official half way point. I'm taking up Jason's challenge and posting a picture. I also wanted to introduce the ladies to a phenomenon known as the "push-up chump."

Before push-ups
After push-ups

There are 2 rules to success in life: 1. Don't tell people everything you know.

Well, kids, it's about the same over here. Just eating healthy (minus those three bites of coconut cream pie the other day, and it's not my fault Jenn made brownies with hot fudge the other day...but I'd been snowboarding all day long so I ate the whole brownie. so sue me.) and exercising almost every day. I'm not gonna lie though...there's usually one a day a week I just don't have time.

I started running consistently two weeks ago after being somewhat lacksadaisical with it since The Dirty Dash. Oops. However, I'm getting back to where I was, and plan to have my time improved by a good minute by the time I run the half in May.

I'm really thirsty lately, too. This morning alone I have refilled my water bottle 3 times. (okay okay...one of those times was because I watered my plant with most of what was in the water bottle. whatever.)

Also,

...nevermind. If I tell you that, the title of this post will become altogether irrelevant, and I'm planning for success here. :)

Have i really been posting on the wrong site??

I've been eating at L and L Hawaiian BBQ. The Chicken Katsu they serve is amazing and is a sure way to a Phat A.

To fight off the Polynesian calories I play ball with the ward and drink green smoothies daily.

So far I have lost 5 pounds and have lowered my body fat percentage. I contribute some of my success to being busy with school. I have less time to stuff my face.

For the most part I have been eating healthy foods but plan to do better.

Gym Guys

Anyone who hasn't seen Jim Rome's "Gym Guy" needs to watch it. For the longest time 24 hour fitness's gym guys would make me feel like the wimpiest skinniest kid who had no idea what he was doing. I felt silently judged when the 400 pound beasts of a men would watch me struggle to press my 65 dumbells. And even more self conscious when I see them putting up the 120's.

Last week an amazing thing happened: I finally felt like I belonged.

While I am still definitely on the small side at my gym, I feel comfortable doing my thing. The gym guys are not as intimidating because I recognize them. More importantly I have realized that they are always there. No matter when I go, they are there. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate their presence, I have based a lot of my form and to a smaller degree my workouts by watching them. It just helps to be less self conscious realizing that I don't have 7 hours a day to work out.

Pull-ups also make me feel good. I'm up to 17 (my goal is 25). I have yet to see those giant men even attempt one.

Anyway, we are half way done. Some of you still haven't posted. I hope you are still working out. For those of us who actually check the blog (Sarah, Jason, Bethany and I) stick with it.

Exercising my mind and losing my body

Yep, that's what I've been doing the last few days, exercising my mind in preparation for one of the most demanding tests I've ever had to take in all my years of school. Unfortunately, I've not only put off exercise, but I've neglected proper eating and sleep habits, and even eliminated hygiene as an important priority. I've quickly gained 65 lbs, aged about 10 to 15 years, and developed an unsightly rash that now covers 90% of my body. It's amazing how quickly things can take a turn for the worse. LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ALL. DO I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION? If you're not careful, you can quickly turn into a human slug that doesn't bathe, substitutes water for soda and energy drinks, plays video games until the sun rises, and drops f-bombs and crude anatomical terms into every sentence. It's happened to me in a matter of days and it's not fun. IT'S NOT FUN!!! UNDERSTAND? I hope I've made my point clear

Half way..

We're 1/2 way, and I've hit a little plateau in my weight loss (bummer). I know it's normal, and this is what my positive self talk sounds like:

"Bethany, you are awesome. 136 is a great place to plateau."

lol. Super lame.

Anyways, this week, I am going to drink 80 oz of water a day. Want to do it with me? I'll let you know how it goes next Monday.

Happy Valentine's day! Don't eat any chocolate.

My Clothes Are Falling Off

No really... they are.

Yesterday while I was running at the gym, my pants kept... slipping... down.

That's progress I think.

9 lbs total

Eeee!

Also, I've improved my mile by a minute since July.

That's all

update

After a less than perfect week, and eating not so healthy Super Bowl food, I was told by a few of my clients that I was looking good + that my arms were amazing...
Ok I'll take that, next step get amazing legs and butt, easy right?

I might do the no carb "cleanse"this week... basically instead of eating bread or pasta after my work out I will eat raw nuts or veggies... I kind of don't want to though

Clydesdale for the win

Needless to say i never intended to be apart of this horrid competition. I believe that the body is a beautiful thing and should be appreciated in every form....

It was my intial plan to wake up this morning and after eating ice cream topped waffles and having my daily coffee to tell each of you how terrible you are for participating in this competition. However when i woke up this morning my wife turns to me and says " Hey fatty McFatty maybe you should exercise or your gonna turn into a Clydesdale(over 200 lbs )"

I cried for hours, i really did, because i was all out of ice cream to eat away my problems. So i have decided to Win this competition....But the opposite way. Starting today i am eating a 10,000 calorie diet. I will sculpt my fat in such a way that when you see me you'll say " Damn he is a fine looking Big man"

My Sweet A.... ss

All this reference to everyone's "A" just makes me want to say "ass" (in a quiet whispered tone of course... cause then it's not cussing).

I'm doing Insanity. It's insane. My abs are coming along nicely. Jase I will post pics soon, but I don't want to ruin the suprise too early. In the meantime I've started my annual swimsuit shopping! SEVEN PEAKS HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Superbowl fail

3 slices of pizza
3 chicken wings
3 cookies
1 cookie bar
a few pieces of sour patch kids
2 cups of soda
1 cinnamon roll
3-5 chips

I think I undid 5 weeks of work in one afternoon.

On another note, I went to a circuit training class called "Boot Camp" that I enjoyed. I usually don't like gym classes but this one was pretty fun. We did 4 sets of 9 different exercises working our chests, triceps, biceps, abs, lower back, hamstrings, quads, calves, A's, and probably some other muscles I didn't realize. It starts at 12 every Saturday. I think you should all come with me next week.

It was a weird week

Brandon had the flu, I had the flu, I had an appointment early on Thursday morning, I missed the gym 2 days (you know, because of the flu), we had a primary activity (where everyone ate costco muffins, except me), some of our best friends packed up and moved, fast Sunday, and Super bowl Sunday.... anyways, it was weird.

My weight/energy/focus has been all over the place. But today, is a new week, and I am refocused.

One month in

We're one month into the competition and I'm glad that we're doing this. I've been a gym-goer for the past few years but been very inconsistent. After a few weeks I'd usually make excuses not to go regularly and never really saw any big gains. I haven't done any measurements, but I think I'm at least a little bit more defined than I was a month ago. I started running a mile everyday after lifting and I think that's the big difference maker because it's burned some fat off my stomach and my 'A'. At the end of 3 months I want to get rid of all my belly fat and get hired on as a shirtless fireman. I've got a lot of work to do before I can join the guys across the hall. Mitchell has been very supportive through it all, leaving handwritten notes of admiration and respect on my pillow and winking at me during the day. I wish I could say the same for Braden. He spends most of his time tearing down others and ultimately making the world a worse place to live in. I would like to see others' pictures to see how everyone is doing. I think it would motivate me a lot. Keep up the good work everyone.

Backwards is not an option.

On May 7, 2011 I will run the Provo City Half Marathon.

On May 21, I'll run a chincy 5K. Just for fun. Because it's a race for women and I get jewelery. Yes, please...

In July I'll run the Hobbler Half Marathon.

I think it' safe to say that in addition to Jillian's shred, I'll be running my "A" off. I also recently (as in today) decided to change my eating habits even more after reading Alain's "calorie" post. Hello, eggs, avocados, lean meats, and...veggies galore.

I have stayed about the same, weight-wise since starting, which is totally fine, and part of my goal - to not gain. BUT with these new things to look forward to, I'm SO ready to kick all ya'lls butts. :) Or at the very least, my own.

I am so glad January is over

I don't like January, my least favorite month of the year. I have to take the Christmas decorations down, it's unnecessarily cold, summer is too far away, it's dark... yuck.

I was feeling sad for myself because it's cold here in Portland, and then I got on my facebook, and clearly I do not have it that bad. Except my California friends who posted things like, "It's supposed to 75 and sunny this weekend." Gross. I better get my beach body ready if I want to live there.

I had the flu. Barf. I'm feeling a quite a bit better, but opted out of going to the gym this morning. On the plus side, I met my weight for Valentine's day 2 weeks early.

Happy February. I'm going to be awesome this month.

My A...

... is getting sweeter.

The End.

Calorie is so not king

Calorie is so not king

To those trying to lose weight calorie is king due to simple math. If I take in less than I am putting out I will magically become Jennifer Garner... right?
While this is true, I would like to submit another thought to the weight loss battle. When it comes to weight loss, and health in general, guilty is WAY more important than quantity.
This about this, we will do an easy one first
Twinkie=150 calories (+tons of sugars and fats) clearly not a good choice
Red Pepper=45 calories (+tons of vitamins, fiber, and water)

Clearly the Twinkie loses this battle... BUT if you did eat the 150 calories and then burned those same 150 cal you would be square... right?
Right?.... so not right

Let's do a harder one...
I am trying to lose weight, for my snack, do I eat....

String cheese: 80 Kcal
Whole wheat bread: 70Kcal

Both are nutrition dense foods, but which is better for weight loss?!

Here is where the calorie counters run into trouble... I bet most of you out there would choose the bread,it is after all whole wheat.

You would have made a better choice than the Twinkie, but to lose weight you need to limit your sugars!
This is basically carbs in any form. Yes I do realize that carbs are in EVERYTHING... but the important thing to remember is;
While trying to reach a weight loss goal the best time to consume grains (breads, pasta, rice, oatmeal...) is right after your workout. This is when your body processes them best, and they are much less likely to be stored around your waist for future use.

When I am trying to lose weight I consume more calories than I would normally even want to eat. My meals and snacks consist of things like;
raw nuts, lean protean, vegetables, vegetables, vegetables, low fat cheese, Omega 3 eggs, avocados....
Lots of nutritious, very filling foods.
I never feel hungry... I usually struggle to finish my entire meal!

"victimized?!"

One word for last weeks post...flood. But don't worry it didn't stop me from my gym commitment. Mostly because I found the gym to be very helpful in the stress relief department.

But I am proud to say that my dedication paid off. Over the last two weeks I have lost 4 lbs.

Slow and steady as she goes, haha!

ps-I did Zumba tonight with my favorite instructor Allison. Monday nights, 6:00 pm at 24 hour fitness for anyone who is interested! And tomorrow night core cross training at 8:00 pm...just in case anyone wants to join me!

1 Month in

Well I will keep updating even if no one else will. It helps me stay accountable. Here is my update on my goals.

Back: 15 out of the 25 pull ups
Legs: I can touch the rim with both palms but still cant dunk.
Stomach: I have a long way to go, but given that I have been trying to gain weight I'm not surprised.
Chest: My chest actually got a 1/4 inch smaller, my goal is 1 inch larger.
Arms: I got 1/4 inch out of the 1/2 inch I want to get.

Despite my efforts to gain weight i actually lost 5 pounds. Go figure.

The Juice Man

Last week was semi-productive but not great. I was wishing that I had more time and energy to dedicate to this competition. I also found that my motivation was dwindling a bit and that going to the gym became a huge inconvenience. That all changed the minute I listened to an infomercial featuring Jay Kordich; also known as the Juice Man. He opened my eyes and I've got a feeling that he'll open yours too if you just give him 5 minutes of your time. I feel a new sense of life and vitality and I owe it this man. Right now I am sitting in the bathtub in tears thinking about what this man has done for me and thousands of others. Please give him your time and your money. Thank you.

Give it a watch

I... struggle...

Yeah... I did good for like 2 weeks. Haven't exercised since. * sigh * Maybe someday I'll decide exercise is good for me and I'll have motivation to keep doing it. Although I continue to lose weight without doing anything... weird.

Is it worth it?

So after Dessert Night last week, I told Derrick I'd give his magical green smoothies a try and let him know if I noticed a difference in my energy.

Well all I have to say is.... my smoothies look more like someone puked in my blender.

Here's to health, aye?

Exhausted

The other night I had a dream that I did my first triathlon.  It was a triathlon in Banff National Park.  In my dream, I finished first out of everyone there.  So, I think that will be my goal for when I really do one.

My real goal is to finish alive.  You know, not die during the race.

I started my little training program on Saturday with a nice run.  Problem is, during the week, when I get home from school I want to go strait to bed.  So, I'm not sure how to train or workout (for good results) for that matter while I'm doing the things I'm doing right now.  I don't know that waking up earlier is the solution, because I'm already doing everything in my power to not fall asleep on the freeway in the mornings (car dance parties rock by the way).  Any ideas?  Please?!?

I guess I'll just be grateful that now whenever I do workout, I don't get sick.  Thank you, surgery!

On the bright side, I've lost 1 more pound and I even signed up for that website that Bethany wrote about.

About the before picture... someone just needs to take that for me.

Also, you should all sign up to do this triathlon with me!  Oh... girls only.

Week 3: Losing the shirt

Well, things are going so well and my results have come so rapidly that I've decided that wearing shirts around the house just isn't for me anymore. My roommates may have felt a little uncomfortable at first, but I think they've gotten used to the idea and realized that this is who I am now. When you look like I do it just doesn't make any sense to be burdened by a shirt. I think it's safe to say that Mitch is starting to catch the vision too. The other day I walked into the kitchen to find him cooking up a hearty breakfast, wearing only a football jersey and socks. He was crying and I noticed several strips of bacon scattered on the kitchen floor and hot grease splattered over everything. Apparently Mitchell had decided that it was time to show off the results of hundreds of squats, leg presses, lunges, and plyometrics and sustained several second degree burns to his bare thighs and shins. I helped clean him up and he seemed to calm down after his bath. I told him that he needed to wear pants for his own safety and after hours of fighting and crying he finally gave in and agreed.

Good weightlifting site

Last week I let the lure of cardio lure me away from my game plan of gaining muscle for 6 weeks and cutting fat the last 6 weeks. This week I got back to basics and got a solid 4 days of heavy lifting (i still worked out all 6 days.)

If anyone else is looking for a good workout i recommend www.muscleandstrength.com. I do this one http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/power-muscle-burn-5-day-powerbuilding-split.html but they have tons and tons of workouts to choose from.

Every week I try and do something new. This weeks goal is to eat 2 servings of vegetables a day.

I recommend medhelp.org

I had a baby in august. Our second, he's the best, but babies come with a fat suit. They're so worth it. I met my pre-pregnancy weight January 2, and I'm trying to loose 10 more... 7 left!

Anyways, this is how I track my weight..
Every morning I get up, pee, get naked, and weigh myself (tmi?). This way I rule out variables like differences between clothes and how much I've eaten that day. A pair of jeans can weigh as much as 3 pounds!

Then I put my weight in on my "tracker" on medhelp. My weight varies day to day. And I know that the difference between today and yesterday could just be how much salt I had yesterday. So, I don't get too bent out of shape if I've gained .4 lbs. A lot of people don't recommend weighing in everyday, but for me it's motivating and keeps me focused. I think you just have to do what works for you, and this is what has been working for me.

The light blue line is my goal. As long as I can stay under the line.. I will meet my goal. (I set a new goal January 2, that's why the blue line is gone before that) It's been a lot harder since I met my pre-pregnancy weight. The most important thing is that I stay positive and realistic, I am proud of what I've done so far, and this will continue to be hard work.

Down on the bottom I also track my exercise.

You can view my whole tracker here. I've been tracking since October. I don't know that anyone else on here has weight to loose, but I thought I would share...

Have a great week!

Hawaii!

Well, I didn't do so well this week because I went to Hawaii on vacation. I didn't exercise must but I did chase some buses.
