Costs $5 to enter the competition.

1 boy and 1 girl winner will split the money.

The winner will be based 100% on your before and after picture judged by an outside party.

As part of the competition, you will need to have a goal that you are working for- lose weight, lose size in your waist, gain muscle.

You need to submit a weekly update on your progress. i.e. I lost 3 lbs this week!

AHEM: Sarah wishes the pictoral evidence shown below were a part of her every day life.

Even as I sit here typing this, she's just laughing. No denial whatsoever. Guys...I think you can be proud.

And a little embarrassed. Oiled?! DERRICK.

A special shout-out to Cary, though: actually, there are no words. Some things...well, nevermind.

Fantastic. Thank you, thank you very much. Our lives will never be the same. Truly.

Sincerely,

DeeAura (who speaks for the rest of the female population in this room...consisting of a number that shall remain unspecified.)

"victimized?!"

One word for last weeks post...flood. But don't worry it didn't stop me from my gym commitment. Mostly because I found the gym to be very helpful in the stress relief department.

But I am proud to say that my dedication paid off. Over the last two weeks I have lost 4 lbs.

Slow and steady as she goes, haha!

ps-I did Zumba tonight with my favorite instructor Allison. Monday nights, 6:00 pm at 24 hour fitness for anyone who is interested! And tomorrow night core cross training at 8:00 pm...just in case anyone wants to join me!

1 Month in

Well I will keep updating even if no one else will. It helps me stay accountable. Here is my update on my goals.

Back: 15 out of the 25 pull ups
Legs: I can touch the rim with both palms but still cant dunk.
Stomach: I have a long way to go, but given that I have been trying to gain weight I'm not surprised.
Chest: My chest actually got a 1/4 inch smaller, my goal is 1 inch larger.
Arms: I got 1/4 inch out of the 1/2 inch I want to get.

Despite my efforts to gain weight i actually lost 5 pounds. Go figure.

The Juice Man

Last week was semi-productive but not great. I was wishing that I had more time and energy to dedicate to this competition. I also found that my motivation was dwindling a bit and that going to the gym became a huge inconvenience. That all changed the minute I listened to an infomercial featuring Jay Kordich; also known as the Juice Man. He opened my eyes and I've got a feeling that he'll open yours too if you just give him 5 minutes of your time. I feel a new sense of life and vitality and I owe it this man. Right now I am sitting in the bathtub in tears thinking about what this man has done for me and thousands of others. Please give him your time and your money. Thank you.

Give it a watch

I... struggle...

Yeah... I did good for like 2 weeks. Haven't exercised since. * sigh * Maybe someday I'll decide exercise is good for me and I'll have motivation to keep doing it. Although I continue to lose weight without doing anything... weird.

Is it worth it?

So after Dessert Night last week, I told Derrick I'd give his magical green smoothies a try and let him know if I noticed a difference in my energy.

Well all I have to say is.... my smoothies look more like someone puked in my blender.

Here's to health, aye?

Exhausted

The other night I had a dream that I did my first triathlon.  It was a triathlon in Banff National Park.  In my dream, I finished first out of everyone there.  So, I think that will be my goal for when I really do one.

My real goal is to finish alive.  You know, not die during the race.

I started my little training program on Saturday with a nice run.  Problem is, during the week, when I get home from school I want to go strait to bed.  So, I'm not sure how to train or workout (for good results) for that matter while I'm doing the things I'm doing right now.  I don't know that waking up earlier is the solution, because I'm already doing everything in my power to not fall asleep on the freeway in the mornings (car dance parties rock by the way).  Any ideas?  Please?!?

I guess I'll just be grateful that now whenever I do workout, I don't get sick.  Thank you, surgery!

On the bright side, I've lost 1 more pound and I even signed up for that website that Bethany wrote about.

About the before picture... someone just needs to take that for me.

Also, you should all sign up to do this triathlon with me!  Oh... girls only.

Week 3: Losing the shirt

Well, things are going so well and my results have come so rapidly that I've decided that wearing shirts around the house just isn't for me anymore. My roommates may have felt a little uncomfortable at first, but I think they've gotten used to the idea and realized that this is who I am now. When you look like I do it just doesn't make any sense to be burdened by a shirt. I think it's safe to say that Mitch is starting to catch the vision too. The other day I walked into the kitchen to find him cooking up a hearty breakfast, wearing only a football jersey and socks. He was crying and I noticed several strips of bacon scattered on the kitchen floor and hot grease splattered over everything. Apparently Mitchell had decided that it was time to show off the results of hundreds of squats, leg presses, lunges, and plyometrics and sustained several second degree burns to his bare thighs and shins. I helped clean him up and he seemed to calm down after his bath. I told him that he needed to wear pants for his own safety and after hours of fighting and crying he finally gave in and agreed.

Good weightlifting site

Last week I let the lure of cardio lure me away from my game plan of gaining muscle for 6 weeks and cutting fat the last 6 weeks. This week I got back to basics and got a solid 4 days of heavy lifting (i still worked out all 6 days.)

If anyone else is looking for a good workout i recommend www.muscleandstrength.com. I do this one http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/power-muscle-burn-5-day-powerbuilding-split.html but they have tons and tons of workouts to choose from.

Every week I try and do something new. This weeks goal is to eat 2 servings of vegetables a day.

I recommend medhelp.org

I had a baby in august. Our second, he's the best, but babies come with a fat suit. They're so worth it. I met my pre-pregnancy weight January 2, and I'm trying to loose 10 more... 7 left!

Anyways, this is how I track my weight..
Every morning I get up, pee, get naked, and weigh myself (tmi?). This way I rule out variables like differences between clothes and how much I've eaten that day. A pair of jeans can weigh as much as 3 pounds!

Then I put my weight in on my "tracker" on medhelp. My weight varies day to day. And I know that the difference between today and yesterday could just be how much salt I had yesterday. So, I don't get too bent out of shape if I've gained .4 lbs. A lot of people don't recommend weighing in everyday, but for me it's motivating and keeps me focused. I think you just have to do what works for you, and this is what has been working for me.

The light blue line is my goal. As long as I can stay under the line.. I will meet my goal. (I set a new goal January 2, that's why the blue line is gone before that) It's been a lot harder since I met my pre-pregnancy weight. The most important thing is that I stay positive and realistic, I am proud of what I've done so far, and this will continue to be hard work.

Down on the bottom I also track my exercise.

You can view my whole tracker here. I've been tracking since October. I don't know that anyone else on here has weight to loose, but I thought I would share...

Have a great week!

Hawaii!

Well, I didn't do so well this week because I went to Hawaii on vacation. I didn't exercise must but I did chase some buses.

5sih lbs down

The Ginger Ale and yuck of last week had at least one bonus... I lost some weight, the main thing I want to work on is my legs... I need them to be thinner and more defined
I feel like that scene from How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

Sad girl who just got dumped: "I haven't eaten in three days"
Magazine editor boss lady: "Good for you!"

Ha! Not a healthy way to lose weight, and I am now back to the healthy diet
thank you

I'm so mad I could spit.

Well, I shredded with Jillian four times last week.  This is better than I have done so far this year, but abysmal in comparison to the six days a week I have been doing it since August.  Ask me what my problem is.  Nevermind, don't.  Then I'd have to come up with an answer.

However, in my defense, I have gone snowboarding three more times since last week, but this last time resulted in my right knee looking 3x its normal size and I'm currently sporting the sickest bruise you've ever SEEN.  So...that's slowing down my normal routines somewhat.

I hate slushy/icy snow.  Just for the record.

Give me another couple days, though, and I'll have this knee back in its place and then I'll continue letting Jillian, tv's most lesbian trainer, kick my butt until I cry.

Also, I've made a goal to run a half marathon this May/June so that will be added to the workouts as soon as stupid knee permits.  :)

The scale still says I'm doing fine, but if I keep this up, we'll have a couple heated arguments, I'm sure.

That is all.
So, I figured I should throw a post up to update you all on my fat A. I would like to clarify that contrary to what you might think, I did not stick out my stomach for the picture. One of my goals is to lose stomach fat. I also intend to build upper body muscle focusing on chest and arms. In order to do this I have been stealing some of Jase's steroids. Nothing gets you closer to a sweet A than drugs.

In all honesty, I have hit the gym about 9 times since we started which is more than I've done in total since high school. Derrick and I went shopping this weekend so I have cut my fast food meals in half. I have also hired a personal trainer, Chuck Liddell, to get me as toned as he is. Playing basketball a couple of times and snowboarding last week also contributed to my cardio workout.

All in all, not a bad way to start towards a sweet A, but it is only getting better from here. So, to the rest of you I wish you sweet A luck!

Week 3

The question you have to ask yourself is "Am I working out as hard as Carla?" Well, are you? Punks Bahahahaha

That's right... I earned these sweat stains!

Ok, I know they're kind of gross :/

Week 3

I'm in it to win it... are you?

WOW!

I'm not sure what is happening, but the scale said I lost 6 lbs since the start of this.  So I guess I'm doing something right, but I do think the scale is lying to me.  Weird.
Jillian and I are becoming much better friends, and I don't hate her as much as I used to.  Same goes for the snowboard and I.  If I keep doing that, and I keep going down the mountain backwards the whole time, then my calves will be hotter than all of yours put together.

Also, the picture is still in the works....  So get ready for that.

Week 2 Progress Report

Cary refuses to post, so I guess I'll post for the both of us. The week started off great. We were eating really healthy and working out hard.

However, it ended with waffle dogs (similar to corn dogs, but sausage dipped in waffle batter and fried... delish) and homemade ice cream. So I imagine I probably gained a pound :)

Here's to a better week!

Carla's Before Shots

Ok, Ok i'll choke down my pride unwillingly and post these pictures. I suppose it's good motivation to get out of bed and work out in the morning.

My goal is to be able to run a half marathon- which will generally add tone all over, and to redefine my abs (they're there, I promise).

Great Progress

This week I played basketball, went to the gym, and played Starcraft. I plan on only doing shoulders and abs for the rest of the time. I will be making green smoothies for everyone this Thursday night for ward dessert night. I am clearly sticking out my stomach in my before picture

Week 2 Success!!!!

I've gone to the gym 10 times in the last 2 weeks and it definitely makes a difference. I added some cardio into my workout to burn off my belly a little bit. I think that's the only way it's going away. Haha!! I've tried to eat a little bit better too and it helps. I'm eating whole wheat bread, wheat pasta, brown rice and trying to cut out fatty stuff without any nutritional value. I don't know if I've noticed enough difference to post any new pictures so I'll probably do that in a month or so.

Does this count?

I looked smoking hot in my dress today at church. Does this count as my update? No one reads mine anyways.

Snowboarding -Week 2

Week 2 was very similar to week 1. 6 days of working out, 3 days of eating out.

We did get to go night boarding this week. After some research ive come to the conclusion that you burn around 250 calories per hour snowboarding. This number varies depending on how groomed the course is, how much you fall, how long the lifts are, and your level of expertise. Unfortunately, it seems that skiiers burn more calories. Either way, I'll take 4 hours of snowboarding over 2 hours of stair-master any day.

Locked and loaded!!!

Okay everyone. I can say i have finally committed myself to this thing and went around to most people and collected the money. If you haven't paid yet, come find me to pay and claim a bodypart on Jason's drawing...
I also went around to all the guys and got some measurements for arms, chest, and body fat %. Cody is under 10%!!!!

I am now ready to take over this competion and win it all! I'm going shoping with Mitch and Adam tonight and anyone else who wants to come and will probably go to the gym before that. I love the feeling of being sore and am excited to report back my success.

PS- if there are any girls that would like to test their body fat % they can come to our apt and do it whenever they'd like.

Cheers!

Ginger Ale, you are my only friend

I have been sick the last couple of days, so no exercise :(

I have just been watching movies and drinking Ginger ale

Monday, January 10, 2011

I had a great week with the help of steroids gaining 13 lbs of muscle, dropping my body fat to 2% and kicking 3 people's 'A'. All in all, it was a successful week

Week 1

I've been unusually awesome this week, and did the shred with Jillian a total of 2 whole times

I know.  This week will knock the socks off last week. Easy.

THE diet

today is the official first day of THE best weight loss diet

Sunday, January 9, 2011

I'm supposed to post once a week

Down one pound.

I've started doing exercises during commercial breaks in addition to my 5 day morning work out routine. I couldn't believe how hard it was to do jumping jacks for the full four minutes of commercials. Also, I can do more push ups than my husband. awesome.

(He says I'm lying, but I'm not)

Great Week!

I worked out 6 out of 7 days. I ran 3 days and swam 1 of the days on top of my weight training. I also did Ab Ripper X What???? It was pretty sweet! Can't wait for next week.

Week 1.

So... people felt that it was necessary to keep taking me out for dinner this week.  Rude.  But I think for a week filled with Red Lobster, Tucano's (I didn't even get sick!  Thank you, surgery), Terra Mia & Costa Vida stuff, it was okay... Haven't stepped on that scale yet OR done my before pics... so I'll have that be this next week's goal.  I did Shred with Jillian 2 times though .  So, along with being an awesome person and starting at the U, I'll just start workin on my Sweet A this next week!

Week One Update and Goals

Well week one was a mixed bag. I worked out all 6 days this week. But I went to Red Lobster, Happy Sumo, and Papa Johns. Luckily, I saw most of you at Red Lobster and half of you at Happy Sumo. Anyway, I came up with the following 3 month goals. I'm not entire confident if my last two goals are good goals, i need to talk to Derrick.

Back - Be able to do 25 pull ups
Legs - Be able to dunk a basketball
Stomach - Be able to see some definition while not flexing
Chest - Add 1 inch to chest
Arms - Add 1/2 inch per arm

Week 1

So there is this treat drawer at my work that is always filled by the doctors and nurses and disgustingly enough we will pretty much clear out the drawer in one 12 hour shift. This week I made it a goal to not eat anything from the treat drawer. It was hard because you get really munchy being there for so long. I also went to the gym 3 times this week and I lost 2 pounds!

week one down!

This weeks progress

times at the gym: 2
lbs lost: 1

I've got to be better at this...but I do have to say that I have not been feeling the best this week. Hopefully that changes for this next week. But hey, I still lost a pound. Maybe being sick hasn't been so bad after all, ha ha!

Alaina's side shot

{ first update for aubrey m. }

I've been doing the 30-day shred with Jillian the last few days and I feel great! I don't see a noticeable difference yet but when I weighed myself at the start of this whole thing I was at 132.4 and when I weighed today I was at 129.3. I'm not sure if that's actual weight loss or if it's just the time of day or something. But I do feel a lot better after exercising this week! :) Yay for motivation! Now everyone else hurry up and update so I can stalk your progress (or lack thereof)!
